The Big Bang Theory and Dark Matter

One of the favorites TV shows growing up was Big Bang Theory. I am pretty sure that everyone knows or has heard about this TV show, but for those of you that don’t know about it. Big Bang theory is TV shows about a group of scientist that live in New York that work at a university, 2 of them are physicist. One of the main characters, Sheldon, is a theoretical physicist at the California institute of Technology; he had a very high IQ but very low social skills.  One of his main focus in his carrier as a physicist is to do research about the string theory. But later on the show he changes he positions to study dark matter. And for some reason hat ha always been very interesting for me.

The study of dark matter is the study of all matter that is made of due to the gravitation effects on visible matters. The astronomy and the cosmology are the science determinants that study this kind of things. All matter is made by atoms, therefore atoms pull on each other, depending on how much mass they have, also depending on how much gravity is on them they will weight more or less therefore some of them will fall or not. All of this sound pretty logic for us. But we have to think outside the box astronomers believes that there is another kind of matter that we cant see, that what we call dark matter.

It is really hard to believe things that we cannot see, that’s why dark matter is still a mystery and many people want to know more about it and have several questions, such us, how do they happen m how do we know about it if we cannot see it, etc.… Even thought I cannot answer all of these questions, I have made some research and here are 3 interesting facts about it:

1-    The first person to suggest the existence of dark matter , was the Dutch astronomer Jacobus Kapteyn in 1922.

2-    This type of matter was named “ Dark Matter “ because it does not interact with light, and other radiations

3-    There is still a lot we do not know about dark matter, but there are a lot of scientist making experiments to search for dark matter. And even some of them may have already found it but their experiments are not confident enough to prove it.
