For those of you who do not know what Tik Tok is, it is a social media app that allows all individuals to post videos of any sort. I would say Tik Tok is mainly used by people who are looking for laughs and entertainment, but really there are all sorts of genres that occupy the realm of Tik Tok. People upload videos containing contain that relates to fashion, sports, cooking, and even science!
The linked video above is a video taken from the Tik Tok page of the Institute of Human Anatomy. This page uploads all kinds of videos relating to human anatomy and as someone who is highly interested in the human body, I find this Tik Tok page very amusing and knowledgeable to look at. The video I chose to write this blog on specifically addresses the internal organs, which I found highly fitting for what we are currently learning about in A & P II . I am able to take what I have learned in Anatomy and Physiology and directly apply it to these videos. As I watch these Tik Toks on human anatomy, I am surprised that I can recognize and understand the terms being used in these anatomy videos. Furthermore, I can also use these videos as a reference to what we currently learn about in class. If you are anything like me, you may be challenged in identifying internal organs. Studying for our most recent blood vessels lab exam helped me to know and identify the internal organs so when I watched this video I had a better clue in identifying all the organs (see inserted diagram). The Institute of Human Anatomy posts videos that relate to every chapter we have learned about in A & P. I saw another video on bursa (throwback to the joints chapter) in the elbow and without taking A & P I and learning about joints I would never had understood the content in that video.
I hope that as we continue to learn more in A & P II that I can continue to apply what I have learned to these videos. If you haven't looked into the science side of Tik Tok or any social media app, I would highly encourage it. Several accounts post videos similar to these that are short and fun to learn about; plus, it helps remind me that what I am learning about relates to the real world!
