"Wow It's Like I'm Holding Liquid You in my Hands!"

Post created by Anna

When I was younger, I loved watching Nickelodeon, and one of my favorite shows was Victorious. Victorious is an older Nickelodeon show about a group of students who attend a special arts high school.

The main character’s name is Tori, and in one of the episodes she had gotten the lead role in the school’s play with Jade, the bad girl of the group, as her understudy. Jade tries several different things to make it so that Tori isn’t able to be in the play but fails in the end.

While this is happening, Robbie, the group’s odd ball, needs to get emergency surgery done on his large intestine. Jade discovers that Tori has the same rare blood type as Robbie, O-, and volunteers Tori so that she won’t be able to perform in the play.

Unfortunately, Tori ends up having three pints of blood taken instead of one because Jade gets rid of a pint and Robbie drops another pint. This makes her incredibly weak and unable to perform as the lead in the play. Though Tori is unable to play her part, Jade does not act as her understudy. Humorously, their crazy male acting teacher, Sikowitz, takes on the role of Steamboat Suzy.

Although this show is very light hearted and humorous at times, it manages to incorporate a bit of anatomy and physiology. Tori’s blood type is O- which means that she has no antigens on the surface of her red blood cells and produces antibodies for A, B, and Rh antigens. Because Robbie also has a O- blood type, that means that he can only receive blood from other people who have O- blood. If other people were to donate blood, it could harm Robbie instead of help him because his blood would attack other kinds of blood types.
